Strong Foundations Start with Smart Site Prep

Before you get the perfect pour, you need the perfect base. That’s where we come in.

At Dalmatian Concreters, site preparation is part of nearly every job we take on. Why? Because doing things properly from the start is how we deliver high-quality, long-lasting concrete surfaces for our clients every time.

Whether it’s a new driveway, a pathway, or an alfresco space – we always start by getting the site right.

What’s Included in our Site Prep Services?

Site preparation is a step-by-step process that ensures your concrete sits on a solid, well-compacted base. Here’s how we do it:

Set Heights and String Lines

Set Heights and String Lines

Measuring and marking out levels to ensure correct drainage and final height.

Concrete Removal

Concrete Removal

Removal of existing concrete as needed, taking care of everything from disposal to site clearance.

Excavation

Dig out the soil to the right depth, remove any grass, dirt, or debris

Base Level

We bring in 40-100mm of fresh rubble and lay it across the site to meet specifications.

Wet and Compact

Wet and Compact

We compact the rubble using mechanical plate compactors to create a firm, even base ready for pouring.

Why Proper Site Preparation Matters

Done right, site prep increases durability, minimises movement and cracking, and ensures a clean finish. Done wrong, it can lead to costly fixes down the line. That’s why we don’t cut corners and we never leave it up to chance.

Our quote includes everything from rubble, labour, equipment, and even concrete disposal. Others might leave this out or rush the job. We don’t.

Planning to DIY? It Might Cost You More

Think it’s cheaper to dig out your old concrete yourself? Think again.

A typical driveway can produce 12–20 tonnes of concrete and that’s just the start of the job. Between hiring tools, arranging disposal, and doing the heavy lifting, you could be out more time and money than you planned.

With Dalmatian, it’s sorted. No mess, no drama, no double handling.

How Long Does It Take?

For most standard residential jobs, site prep takes 1–2 days, depending on the site access and scope of the job. We’ll always give you clear timelines upfront, and you’ll be updated every step of the way.
